I recently graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Interior Design in May 2013. I am currently working at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Baton Rouge, LA as a temporary contract employee. I will be doing Facilities Planning while the Interior Designer on the campus is on maternity leave until early October. At this point, I am interested in starting my professional career with a reputable design firm that will allow me to utilize my knowledge in interior design, while advancing my education in the field.

Along with a degree in Interior Design, I also received the Distinguished Communicator Award. The Distinguished Communicator program is an elite group of LSU students who possess a solid understanding of their discipline, strong leadership skills, and the exceptional ability to communicate ideas and knowledge effectively.  The requirements include: attending workshops, having a leadership position, completing an internship, providing a private portfolio, which includes samples of past and present spoken, written, visual, and technological communication, an online portfolio, and also reflections on your journey along the way.

I became a LEED Green Associate in April 2012. I have education in several computer programs, such as, AutoCAD, Revit, Google Sketchup, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Autodesk 3DS Max Design.

I completed a student internship at the Office of State Buildings in Baton Rouge, LA. I find real life experience to be a key tool in becoming a successful designer.  I recently had the opportunity to visit New York City on an educational school trip and experience very successful designs firsthand. I visited very noteworthy firms, such as David Easton Residential Design, Perkins and Will, and Tillotson Lighting Design. I was also able to visit Knoll Showroom and Material ConneXion, which are great resources to have on hand.

Community Involvement is very important to me.  I have done volunteer work for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Bogalusa Help Center, CASA, and Toys for Tots.
